The recent protests in the U.S against racial injustices has resonated strongly within the Black Mauritanian community. Most members of the Haratin community based in the U.S have fled the West African state [Mauritania] because of racial violence, where they are still subject to slavery and discrimination. Today, as part of the Black community in the US, Haratins also face American racism, from police harassment to discrimination at work.“
